The city of Branson saw a rebound in sales tax last month but a decline in the city’s tourism tax.
The city showed a 3.7% increase in sales tax for the month of May when compared to 2023. The total of $1,010,788 is the first time in the history of the tax the city has generated more than one million dollars in a month.
The increase comes after a 4% decrease in the tax in April 2024, the only monthly decrease in 2024, and the second time in the last two years the city saw a decline in April revenues.
Overall for the year, sales tax revenue for the city is up 6.5% at $5,804,661.
