During a recent Branson Board of Aldermen Study Session, a presentation is made to look at options the city has to deal with Blighted Property and potential for redevelopment.
Holly Dodge, an attorney for Lauber Municipal Law who handles legal issues and City Attorney duties for the city, made the presentation to the board discussing some measures that are available through Missouri Law, including the formation of a Land Clearance for Redevelopment Authority that would need both Aldermen and City Voter Approval to form to deal with properties that are blighted and/or dangerous.
Another option according to Dodge would be the formation of a Land Bank which can help the city develop a process that land could be acquired for future public or private use.
According to a recap of the presentation published by the Branson Tri-Lakes News, City Administrator Cathy Stepp said the presentation of a result of concerns of Board Members about some of the properties along 76 Country Boulevard that visitors see when they are arriving in Branson coming off Highway 65.
