A man that was floating the James River over the weekend was rescued by several bystanders after he was ejected from his kayak and trapped underneath a log.
As earlier reported by Ozarks Dynacom, 72-year-old Thomas Forehand of Joplin was seriously injured after the incident. Several social media posts and a follow-up post by the Stone County Sheriff’s Office reports that Forehand was rescued by some bystanders that were in the area just north of Galena. A feature story by Ozarks First details the events that led to the rescue of Forehand including the group of people that helped pull him out of the water along with a nurse that was passing by that was able to assist in reviving him. Stone County Sheriff Doug Rader tells Ozarks First that Forehand would have died if not for the quick actions of the people along the river.
Another social media post relates the Forehand was treated and released from the hospital after the incident.
