Hot air balloons are returning to Harrison this week! The 26 annual festival starts Friday evening at the Boone County Regional Airport at 4 p.m.

Matt Bell from the Harrison Convention and Visitors Bureau spoke with KHOZ’s Around The Table on Monday about upcoming events. 12 balloons will be present. “The good news is nine of those have agreed to do tethered rides, so we’re able to bring those back this year,” Bell said. Bell said the “crowd favorite” always results in running out of fuel because of how many people participate. Those wanting to watch the balloons take off and eventually land are highly encouraged to arrive at First Baptist Church on Saturday before 7 a.m.

Tickets are sold for the tethered rides at the festival on a first come first served basis. “There will be a line formed because we can’t guarantee flights for anyone,” he said. The rides will be offered on Saturday evening. There will be hot air balloons and live entertainment on Friday evening but no rides.

Helicopter rides will also be available. Food and retail vendors will be present as well as the Harrison High School jazz band. The full interview with Bell is on Around The Table’s Facebook Page.
