A man wanted for the attempted murder of his mother in Arkansas is still in a Barry County Jail Cell on additional charges.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed in Barry County Circuit Court, the Stone County Sheriff's Office was alerted by Arkansas authorities last Monday morning that a man, Joseph Alexander, was wanted in an attempted murder in Bentonville and that he might be headed to Stone County. Officers later spotted the vehicle on Highway 39 at which time he sped up leading to a pursuit that eventually ended in Barry County with Alexander wrecking his vehicle, fleeing on foot, then eventually being captured by the Stone County Deputies.

Alexander is still being held on a $50,000 bond on the Resisting a Lawful Stop Charge with a Bond hearing scheduled for next week.

In the meantime, he is expected to be eventually extradited to Benton County. According to media reports, Alexander is accused of shooting his mother in the head twice with a crossbow. His mother did survive the attack.
