An earthquake has been reported in northern Marion County in Bull Shoals Lake.
The United States Geological Society (USGS) reports the quake, which measured 2.0 on the Richter scale, was centered near Bull Bottom Bluff. The USGS says the epicenter is located 7.2 miles southwest of Pontiac, Missouri; 19.1 miles west, northwest of Mountain Home or 27.1 miles east, northeast of Harrison. The earthquake happened at 2:54 Thursday morning.
Experts say normally, earthquakes below magnitude 3 are rarely felt. However, smaller quakes from magnitude 2.0 can be felt by humans if the quake is shallow (few kilometers only) and if they are very close to its epicenter and not disturbed by ambient factors such as noise, wind, vibrations of engines, traffic, etc.
