New Year, New Government Officials Taking Office

Many areas of America from the smallest communities to the highest office are seeing transitions to new officials as 2025 gets underway.

Throughout both Arkansas and Missouri, new county officials have been or will be sworn into office with the new year. In Taney County, that occurred last week as newly Eastern District Commissioner Shane Keys took the oath of office replacing the retiring Sheila Wyatt. Other officials either elected or reelected to their positions also took the oath to begin 2025. 

Meanwhile in Arkansas, many communities will also be swearing in new elected officials including the City of Harrison, which will swear in the newly elected and re-elected council members at a meeting this Thursday at Harrison City Hall. Josh Earl, Gwen Hoffman, and Charlie Pierce will be the new members sworn in to their positions on the Harrison City Council. 

Missouri will see a new governor take office as Mike Kehoe will take the reins from Mike Parson as the top state official with inauguration ceremonies scheduled for Jefferson City on January 13. The new legislative session in Missouri will get underway this Wednesday in Jefferson City while the the Legislative Session in Arkansas will begin on January 13.

The U.S. Congress is beginning their work for 2025 with Donald Trump returning to the Presidency with his inauguration scheduled for January 20.
