Parts of the Lakes Region Abnormally Dry

The Lakes Region still shows some areas are Abnormally Dry according to the latest map from the U.S. Drought Monitor.

With data that was being collected while the remnants of Tropical Storm Beryl were hitting the region, the latest map indicates the biggest area of Abnormally Dry Conditions are in Arkansas, covering most of Boone, Marion, and Searcy Counties with portions of Carroll and Newton Counties still dry as well. In Missouri, only parts of Barry County in the Lakes Region are still showing Abnormally Dry conditions which elevates Fire Risk in those areas.

While areas of the Buffalo National River are still dry, the rain earlier this week did bring a surge in floating levels and while many areas are once again low, both Harriet and St. Joe are still showing high levels good enough for floating entering the weekend.
