Relief Efforts for Tornado Victims in Boone County Underway

An effort in underway for people who were impacted by Sunday’s tornado that hit Boone County. 

In a release from the office of Judge Robert Hathaway, in response to inquires from people wanting to help those who suffered losses due to the storms, three drop-off locations have been established. The Boone County Office of Emergency Management on Prospect Ave in Harrison is one of the locations accepting donations along with Harmon Fire Station #1 on Harmon Road and Valley Springs Fire Station #1 on Highway 65 South. Those locations are also serving as pick-up locations for residents needing help. 

Over a dozen buildings were severely damaged or destroyed due to the tornado and one person died in Boone County with several others suffering injuries. People needing more information can contact Boone County Dispatch on their non-emergency number at 870-741-9100.
