Thanksgiving Safety Tips

This post from the Forsyth Fire Department is one of many posted from area agencies about Thanksgiving Safety.

Many fire departments and districts in the region send out reminders about safety while preparing big meals for family and friends during the Thanksgiving weekend.

A summary of some of those tips include making sure someone is always keeping an eye on the food that is cooking in the kitchen, make sure kids stay a safe distance from stoves and ovens in the kitchen, and have a prepared plan of escape if a fire should breakout.

Several releases also talk about the dangers of trying to fry turkeys with oil which can easily get out of control. If frying a turkey is something that might be on the menu for future Thanksgivings, fire officials encourage people to look into buying an oil-less fryer or buying one in advance from a grocery store or a restaurant.
