The public is invited back to enjoy “America’s Favorite Hobo and Branson’s Beloved Friend,” this month’s Tuesday Talk, on January 17 at 12:30 p.m. Larry Martin, also known as “Boxcar Willie Jr.” and his twin sister Lorrie Brown will talk about life with their dad Lecil Martin, better known as Boxcar Willie.
After 27 years as a flight engineer in the U.S. Air Force, Martin became a full-time performer. Boxcar Willie had a huge European following, wrote over 400 songs, was inducted into the Grand Old Opry in 1981 and became one of the first legendary entertainers to purchase a theater in Branson where he performed from 1985 until his death in 1999.
The Tuesday Talk series is presented free-of-charge by the Branson Centennial Museum and White River Valley Historical Society. Various topics of local and historical interest are presented by knowledgeable speakers on the third Tuesday of the month from 12:30 until 1:30 PM. The Museum is in historic Downtown Branson at 120 South Commercial Street, former home of Reish Shoes & Boots.
