A pair of 2-1 games wrap-up the 2023 edition of the Cal Ripken Major 70 World Series at Ballparks of America.
Ohio Valley claims the championship edging out Taiwan 2-1 in the title game Saturday afternoon, the same score that Japan beat Honolulu in the third place game.
Meanwhile Branson/Central Ozarks, which swept two games on Friday to qualify for the Iron Bracket final on Saturday, dropped a 7-3 decision to West Raleigh, North Carolina in the final game that was delayed twice due to lightning and rain and had to be moved from the St. Louis to Chicago Fields for completion due to the scheduled championship round.
Branson finished fourth in the Pool and won three straight games before wrapping up their play in the tournament.
