The second Friday of High School Football action saw a signature win for Branson while the other MOARK teams fell in action.
The Pirates played their first ever game against the Camdenton Lakers and built a 35-0 lead before the visitors to Pirates Stadium scored a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns to make the final score 35-14. Pirate Quarterback Luke McCormick rushed for a pair of touchdowns as the Pirates take advantage of two Laker turnovers plus the absence of starting quarterback Karson Durnin for a couple of series to build the lead.
The Pirates will open their first ever Ozark Mountain Conference season next Friday at Bolivar.
The other Lakes Area Missouri teams suffered losses Friday prior to opening Mid-Lakes Conference play next week. All games were close, as Forsyth loses to Marionville, Hollister to Sarcoxie, and Reeds Spring to Marshfield.
Also Friday, the Harrison Goblins drop their rivalry game with Mountain Home after having won the previous 10 meetings prior to 2023. The Goblins drop the 30-14 decision to the Bombers.
