The Branson Lady Pirate Softball team, after winning their first District Game in five years on Tuesday, take the next step Wednesday in Springfield as they win an extra inning game to advance to the Class 4 District Championship Game.
After giving up three runs in the first inning the Lady Pirates seized control of the game scoring seven runs over the next five innings, including two on a home run by Jocelyan McQueen. The Lady Zizzers though charged back into the game scoring four runs in the sixth to tie it.
Branson got runners on base in the seventh but couldn't score so the game went into extra innings. Sierra Dailey, who after getting roughed up in the sixth inning, settled down in the circle and retired the final eight hitters she faced. Dailey led off the eighth inning with a triple which gave her the single season record for hits for the Lady Pirate program. After two intentional walks and a strikeout, Jerzi Yacko smashed a single to left center field for the game winner.
Branson will play Camdenton for the District Championship Friday afternoon at Springfield Glendale.
