Tuesday saw a big day of action that was capped off by a marathon Baseball District Game.
District Baseball
The Branson Pirates are hosting the Class 5 District Tournament and played the last game of the day which nearly spilled over into Wednesday morning.
The Pirates played West Plains and led 2-0 before the Zizzers scored three runs total in the fifth and sixth innings to grab a one run lead. The Pirates Andrew Bristow, who earlier in the day medaled in the Class 4 State Golf Tournament, hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game in the seventh then after several twists and turns that saw both team leave potential winning runs on base, it was Bristow that scored the winning run after a hit by Hunter Jones, who was the Pirates third pitcher of the game.
Branson will take the field this afternoon against Willard in the semi-finals at 4:30. The Tigers beat Parkview 11-1 while the other games had Camdenton shutout Hillcrest 4-0 and Glendale beat Marshfield 6-1. This afternoon's Branson Game can be heard on MOARK Sports Dot Com.
Meanwhile in Strafford, the Forsyth Panthers had their own battle taking on the host Indians in the Class 2 District Semi-final, delayed a day due to Monday's rain. The Panthers squeeze out a 6-5 win and take on Clever in the finals this afternoon at 4:30. Clever knocked off Sparta 13-3.
The season ended for Hollister, as they lose to top seed Rogersville 10-4 in the Class 4 District hosted by Rogersville.
Marionville wins the Class 2 District hosted by Blue Eye, defeating New Covenant Academy 11-9 in Tuesday's title game.
District Soccer
Branson and West Plains also played in the opening round of the Class 3 Girls District Soccer Tournament at Springfield Glendale and like their baseball counterparts, had to go beyond regulation to get a winner. And like the baseball game, it was Branson coming through winning 1-0 on Penalty Kicks. The Lady Pirates play Springfield Catholic in the semi-finals at Glendale this evening at 6:00 that can be heard on MOARK Sports/ Perry Phillips Sports Dot Com.
State Golf
As mentioned earlier, Branson's Andrew Bristow finished tied for seventh in the Class 4 State Tournament in Sedalia with teammate Ben Presley finishing tied for ninth. A third Pirate, Reese Andrew Ruprecht, finished tied for 68th.
Several other golfers were in state tournament play.
In Class 3 at New Bloomfield, Hollister's Garrett Snyder finished tied for 52nd while in Class 2 at in Springfield, Forsyth's Cooper Voliva finished tied for 50th. In Class 1 at Columbia, Robert Carter of Galena finished 71st.
