As heard on MOARK Sports Tuesday, the Nixa Eagles knocked off the Branson Pirates 7-3 in the Central Ozark Conference Baseball Contest.
The game was sort of a reunion for Nixa Head Coach Logan Hughes and Assistant Coach Troy Nimmo. Hughes was an All-State Baseball Player in Branson in the late 90's and Nimmo spent many years as both an assistant and head coach for the Pirates until he left at the end of last season.
The Eagles looked like they were going to runaway with the game scoring seven runs in the first two innings, with the four run second inning being aided by two Pirate errors. However, Pirate pitcher Kale Lankton held them from there allowing only one baserunner the remaining five innings.
The Pirates capitalized on two Nixa errors to score three runs in the third with RBI hits by Collin Ross and Carter Jenkins, but the Eagle pitcher settled down from there to keep Nixa perfect in conference play and 23-1 overall for the season.
Branson falls to 12-12 with the loss and will next be in action Thursday in Neosho in a game that can also be heard on MOARK Sports.
Also on MOARK Sports Tuesday, the Forsyth Panthers won their seventh straight game as they take a 5-4 win at Strafford to improve to 13-4 on the season.
