Charlotte Ann Davenport, age 84, of Branson, Missouri, passed away August 15, 2024, with family by her side. She entered this life July 16, 1940, the daughter of John and Opal (Matney) Godfrey in Topeka, Kansas. Charlotte was joined in marriage to the love of her life, Claud Davenport Jr., on June 8, 1958, in Fort Riley, Kansas.
With a zest for adventure, Charlotte loved to travel the globe with her husband while he was in the Army and after. Her favorite place was Hawaii. Charlotte was an avid reader and loved watching the KC Chiefs and the KU Jayhawks. More than anything, she loved spending time with her family and friends. The memories and moments created over this beautiful lifetime will be cherished forever.
Charlotte is survived by her grandchildren: Nick (Lora) Davenport of Branson, Missouri, Amber (Carey) LeBlanc, Mark Davenport of Topeka, Kansas, Leanndra Criswell of Topeka, Kansas, and Duke Anderson of Wichita, Kansas; sister-in-law, Lou Ann Godfrey of Topeka, Kansas; nieces: Kimberly (Barton) Egger of Rogers, Arkansas, Susan (Robert) Mast of Glenpool, Oklahoma, Leslie (Bruce) Arbuthnot of Lexington, South Carolina; and her beloved dogs, Laniee and Ellie. She is survived by many other loved ones including great nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents: John Godfrey and Opal Matney Godfrey Hall; husband, Claud Davenport Jr., both of her children: Curt Davenport and Chrisanne Davenport; brother, Marvin Godfrey.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, September 2, 2024, at the Hollister Train Depot, 294 Esplanade Dr., Hollister, Missouri. Charlotte will be inurned with her husband at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.
