David Autry Clifton, 81 died Sunday morning at home. Mr. Clifton Graduated from Wynne High School where he excelled in Football and Shot put. He attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and played Football as a part of Broyles Early Bunch in 1961 & 62 Seasons. He transferred to Arkansas State in Jonesboro for the 1963, 64 & 65 Seasons. He played both ways Offense and Defense Tackle and Graduated with both a Bachelor’s and Master’s from ASU. He retired from Baxter Healthcare after a 25 year career and Coaching for 10.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years Joanna Sue Clifton and Daughters Crystal Leigh Clifton of Branson, Anna Maria Watson and husband Rich of Kirbyville. Grandchildren: Lindsey, Christian, Todd and Chad as well as 7 Great Grandchildren. Brother: Harold Clifton and Wife Dotsie of Martin, TN as well as nieces and nephews: Mary, Michael, Greg, Jimmy, Gloria, Glenda and Chad.
He was preceded in death by his siblings. Dorothy Clifton Beavers, Walter Lewis Clifton, Jr, William Sherman Clifton and parents Walter L and Eva Lee Clifton. As well as two Grandchildren.
David was an amazing Husband and Father who sure loved his girls. He will be forever remembered for his infectious smile and love for God, Family and Football. There will be a Celebration of Life at Faith Life Church, Word Production Center 3701 W 76 Country Blvd, Branson, MO at 1pm this Thursday, June 29th.
