Dixie Diane Phillips, age 83, of Nixa, Missouri

Dixie Diane Phillips, age 83, of Nixa, Missouri, passed away August 5, 2023. She entered this life March 3, 1940, in Mystic, Iowa, the daughter of Charley Sr. and Irene (Haines) Wakefield. She was joined in marriage April 14, 1958, to Wendell Wayne Phillips.

A kind and loving person, Dixie shared her belief in Jesus with all who knew her. She owned her business, Fashion Crossroads in Centerville, Iowa, for a few years and worked at Owl’s Pharmacy before moving to Hollister, Missouri, where she worked in many retail businesses. Dixie worked on the farm with her husband, Wendell, in Iowa where she lived most of her life. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Centerville Iowa and when she moved to Missouri, became an active member of First United Methodist Church in Branson. She and Wendell moved to Castlewood Senior Center in Nixa, Missouri, in 2021. Dixie loved her family and her friends. Most of all, she loved her savior. She will be greatly missed by those who knew her.

Dixie is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Charley (Verna) Wakefield Jr.; sister, Roberta (Ferrell) Purvis; sister, Donna (Howard) Spencer; brother, Jerry (Edith) Wakefield; sister-in-law, Olive Jean (Ival) Tarbell; and sister-in-law, Joya (Howard) Phillips.

Dixie is survived by her husband of 64 years, Wendell Wayne Phillips Sr.; two sons: Randy (Rhonda) Phillips of Chanute, Kansas, and Todd (Karen) Phillips of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; daughter, Mirinda (Arthur Aaron) Frealy of Nixa, Missouri; seven grandchildren: Darren, Hannah, Cody, Samantha, Ely, Autumn, and Avery; eight great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Howard Phillips; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A celebration of life will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Castlewood Senior Center, 1535 N. Old Castle Road, Nixa, Missouri. Inurnment will be at a later time in Hanes Cemetery, Centerville, Iowa. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.
