Dorothy L. Israel, 95, of Lampe.

Beloved mother and grandmother, Dorothy L. Israel, passed away at her home in Lampe on May 24, 2024 at the age of 95.

Born Dorothy Sherman on April 2, 1929 in Kansas City, MO, she was the daughter and one of six children of George & Nellie (Neighbors) Sherman.  Dorothy graduated from East High in Kansas City. She married Dale D. White and was blessed with four children. Dorothy loved being a mom and caring for her family while also working as a paralegal.  Dale passed away in 1960, leaving Dorothy as a single parent and she met her circumstances head on. In 1968, she found love for a second time and married Frank Israel. The two were a strong team and managed several properties in Kansas City. Thirty-seven years ago they moved to Lampe.

Dorothy was a faithful follower of Christ and member of the Seventh Day Adventist congregation in Kimberling City. She was a talented seamstress including knitting, quilting, and crocheting.  She combined her love of people and needlework skills to make several quilts and teddy bears for foster children in the Stone County area.

A celebration of Dorothy’s life will be Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 2:30 PM in the Kimberling City Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 3 James River Rd., Kimberling City, MO. She will be interred with her husband Frank in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield. Cremation was in the care of Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home & Crematory, Branson.

She will be deeply missed by her children, Mike White of the Philippines, Dale White of Hudson, Florida and Lonnie White of Warsaw, MO along with her step-daughter Becky Davis of Joliet, IL and 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Dale D. White and Frank Israel; her son, Mitchell White; step-sons, Frank Israel, Jr. and Allen Israel and her siblings, George Sherman, Jr., Bill Sherman, Margaret Thompson, Marion Landes and Ruth Bastin.
