Eldon Eugene Skinner, of Purdy, Missouri passed away at home on Friday, August 23, 2024, at the age of 76.
He was born on December 31, 1947 in Chouteau, Oklahoma, the son of Ellard and Lila (Smith) Skinner, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Clyde and Loretta Barrett; daughter, Lisa Bruton; sons-in-law, Greg Hodge and Kevin Donohue and grandson, Dusty Hodge.
On November 10, 1990 in Purdy, Missouri he was united in marriage to Carolyn Barrett, who survives. Also surviving are daughters, Stacy Hodge and her fiancé Phillip Brooks of Exeter, Missouri, Cheri Skinner and her husband Chris of Chouteau, Oklahoma, and Jana Weatherford and her husband T.J. of Aurora, Missouri; sister, Glenda Skinner Ryals of Chouteau, Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren, Lucas, Kylan, Ke'Alani, Stephanie, Jake, Brady, Hailey, Courtney, Ethan, Kayla, and Aaron and 19 great grandchildren.
Eldon grew up in Chouteau, Oklahoma graduating from Chouteau High School, later attending Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri, where he earned a master's degree in business and education. Eldon served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a teacher and high school basketball coach at Purdy High School for several years before transitioning to American Family Insurance, where he continued to serve his community until his retirement in 2018. Eldon enjoyed hunting and watching car races. Yet, it was his family that remained the most important aspect of his life. His absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at Arnhart Baptist Church in Purdy. Pastor Jason Mackey will conduct the services. Burial will be private.
