Funeral services for Garry R. Carriger, 81, Branson will be held Friday, Nov. 26 at 11 AM in the Sanctuary of Hope, Branson. Dr. Sam Kaunley will officiate. Burial will follow in the Ozarks Memorial Park Cemetery, Branson at 12:15 PM. Military honors will be provided by the Branson Veterans of America and the United States Navy. Services are under the direction of Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home and Crematory. Mr. Carriger entered into rest on Sunday Nov. 21st at his home.
Garry Ray Carriger was born February 18, 1940 in Hartville, Mo. He was the son of Richard and Mary (Hembree) Carriger. Garry attended Hartville Schools as a youth. The family moved to Strafford when he was a teenager from which he graduated from the Strafford High School. After high school he served his country in the United States Navy. When he returned home, he met and married the love of his life Judith K. Whitehead. They were married Sept. 21, 1961, in Harrison, Ark. Garry and Judy had celebrated sixty years together this past fall. They were blessed with four sons to this union.
Garry and Judy moved to the Branson area in 1965 from Joplin, Missouri. He was manager of the telephone company from which he retired from. Garry attended the Sanctuary of Hope in Branson.
Garry was a family man who enjoyed spending time with his sons and grandchildren. A few of his hobbies were collecting cars, woodworking, golf, stain glass, hunting and fishing with his sons. He was a believer of Christ, a teacher of the word and a wonderful witness.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Edward and Richard.
Garry is survived by his loving wife Judy Carriger of the home, four sons Mike Carriger (Jamie) of Onalaska, Wisc; Mark Carriger (Kim) of Springfield, Mo.; Jeff Carriger of Kansas City, Mo.; Matt “Snork” Carriger (Dennette) Branson, Mo.; one sister Marie Carriger of Springfield, Mo.; ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at the Sanctuary of Hope Church, Branson at 10 AM on Friday, Nov. 26, services under the direction of Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home and Crematory, Branson.
