Glenis Lorene Baxter Ortiz, 67, of Merriam Woods, Mo.

Glenis Lorene Baxter Ortiz, 67, of Merriam Woods, Mo. passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Forsyth Care Center, Forsyth, MO. She was born on September 24, 1956 at George AFB, Victorville, California to Billy C. Baxter and Opal L. (Bidatsch) Baxter. Raised in a large military family, she traveled throughout Europe and the U.S. before settling in Merriam Woods, Missouri near her parents. She married Kenneth George Ortiz of Denver, Colorado on October 3, 2007 in Forsyth.

Glenis was a thoughtful, genuine soul who enjoyed family, fishing, music, and reading. She also loved bingo, casinos and playing games on her tablet. She was known for being a hardworking, reliable employee at all of her jobs.

Glenis is survived by her husband of 16 years, Kenneth “ Ghost” Ortiz;; her five siblings Edward L. Baxter and his wife Debbie, Daniel W. Baxter and his wife Carol, Angela R. Varvi and her husband John, Douglas J. Baxter and his wife Marian, and Victor A. Baxter and his wife Cindy; her Uncle Ronald Baxter and wife Sherry, Aunt Leota Lovelace and husband Gary, Aunt Margaret Knight and Uncle Leroy Patterson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Billy C. and Opal L. Baxter of Forsyth.

The memorial service for Glenis will be held May 31, 2024, 2:00 PM at Snapp-Bearden Forsyth Chapel, Forsyth Mo. Pastor James Easter will officiate.
