Gordon B. Litzsinger, age 89, of Shell Knob, MO

Gordon B. Litzsinger, age 89, of Shell Knob, Missouri, passed away Sunday, July 11, 2021 at his home.

He was born October 17, 1931 in Kirkwood, Missouri the son of Gordon and Sarah Jane (Barrett) Litzsinger.  On October 2, 1954 in Manchester, Missouri he was united in marriage to Pearl Andrews.  Preceding him in death were his parents.

Surviving are his wife of sixty-seven years, Pearl Litzsinger; three sons, John Litzsinger and Randi of Republic, Missouri, Jimmy Litzsinger and Bernie of Shell Knob, Missouri and Joseph Litzsinger and Robert of Palmetto, Florida; three daughters, Jane Willis of Shell Knob, Missouri, Jennifer Moore and Ron of Shell Knob, Missouri and Judy Hedden and Stuart of Nemo, Missouri; two brothers, Bob Litzsinger and Peggy of St. Louis, Missouri and Rich Litzsinger of Kimberling City, Missouri; one sister, Sally Williams and Kenny of Fenton, Missouri; eight grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.  

Gordon was a graduate of Valley Park High School in St. Louis County, Missouri.  After high school he joined the United States Marine Corp, serving his basic training at Paris Island.  He served in Korea as a Seabee.  After the service he moved to Long Beach, California where he met his wife, fell in love, married and moved back to the St. Louis area.  For several years Gordon worked for Boyd Company.  He worked as a heavy equipment operator, which he loved and continued operating until over age 80.  In 1979 he moved from St. Louis to Shell Knob to make his home.  Some of his favorite pastimes were fishing and boating on Table Rock Lake.  He was a member of Central Community United Methodist Church in Shell Knob, Central Crossing Masonic Lodge #674 and very active in the Shell Knob Shrine Club.

Funeral services with Masonic services and VFW ceremony will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, July 15, 2021 at Central Community United Methodist Church under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Shell Knob.  Dave Atkinson will conduct the services.  Burial with military honors will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri.

Contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children in memory of Gordon.
