My mother was 103 when she passed from this life, an amazing long life. She loved children and chose school teaching as her career. She taught at the old Thornton School east of Berryville before moving into town to teach fifth grade. She revived the band in Eureka Springs in the 1960s. She was responsible for bringing the Scottish Kilt uniforms from Scotland, which were used by the band for many years. The final years of her teaching career were spent teaching band, choir, guitar, and piano at an all-tribal Native American high school in Brigham City, Utah. While teaching there she developed so much love and respect for her students and the individual cultures of each tribe. She was an artist, vocalist, musician, and exceptional storyteller. (My mother was extremely talented). The most important thing that I can tell you about her is that she was a believer and knew her Savior Jesus Christ.

          —Eva Marie Wheeler Reeve, daughter

My grandmother was the most free-spirited, caring, loving, talented women I know. Her life on earth was extraordinary in more ways that one. Every person she would meet I know she would leave an impact on them in some way. Through the years, she showed me the beauty in art, music, literature, and looking at life with a different lens. Her eventful 103 years were spent loving her family and friends up to the very end of her life. Heaven received the most beautiful soul, and we love you, Gram, and miss you so much. I can’t wait to see you again.

          —Eva Marie Weege, great-granddaughter
