James Franklin Slater, age 73, Branson, Missouri
Beloved father, grandfather, and brother, James Slater passed away at the age of 73 on Friday, October 27, 2023 at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield.
James Franklin Slater was born on April 21, 1950 in Carthage, Missouri to James E. & Martha Louise (Hale) Slater. He was a 13-year senior from Carthage High School. He proudly served in the United States Army as military police. After retiring from military service, he worked for Jasper Foods in Joplin. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and playing poker. James was also a football and baseball fan and loved cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Cardinals. He moved to Branson in 2016 from Duenweg, MO.
James was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Gwen Slater and one sister, Shirley.
He is survived by his daughter Kimberly Broadaway & husband Brian of Branson; brothers, Ray Slater & wife Terri of Webb City, Don Slater & wife Karen of Joplin; sisters, Jo Boggs & husband Terry of Cherryvale, KS, Toni Slater-Carter of Carterville, MO and Mabel Smith of Webb City along with the grandchildren he adored, Brandon Sanders, Nick Sanders, Spencer Slater and Cooper Smith.
Cremation arrangements were in the care of Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home and Crematory, Branson.
The family will hold a private memorial celebration.
