James “Jim” Lee Lucas went to be with the Lord December 9, 2021 at the age of 77.
He was born September 16, 1944 at home in the Oak Ridge community. The son of William Harvey Lucas and Edna (Whinery) Lucas.
Jim grew up attending Merl’s Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. At the age of 12 attending church camp, he received Jesus as his Lord and Savior.
Jim graduated from Cassville High School with the class of 1963. He served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam Veteran.
Jim married the love of his life, Jerri Jean Burdette Lucas on June 1, 1969, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, James William Lucas and his wife Cindy of Shell Knob and Timothy Lee Lucas of Cassville; two sisters, Louise Horner and her husband Mike of Claremore, Oklahoma and Lois Ulrich of Springfield, Missouri; two grandsons who were the joy of his old age, Scotland William Lucas and Sawyer Luke Lucas.
He retired from the Missouri Highway Department in 2001 and built and operated hen houses for George’s until his death.
He was a member and Deacon of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Cassville.
Watching his cows and calves grow was his favorite pastime. He loved his home with so many wonderful memories.
Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, William Harvey Lucas, Jr. and Harold Lucas and his wife Carol.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, December 13, 2021 at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Cassville. Pastor Kevin Hilton and Pastor John Henry will conduct the services.
