James Robert “Jim” Howerton, age 95, of Cassville, Missouri
James Robert “Jim” Howerton, age 95, of Cassville, Missouri passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at Mercy Hospital Cassville in Cassville, Missouri.
He was born October 29, 1927 in Butterfield, Missouri the son of John and Lela (Leonard) Howerton. On October 5, 1949 in Bentonville, Arkansas he was united in marriage to Ann Boyd, who preceded him in death on August 6, 2021. Also preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Bill Howerton.
Surviving are two sons, Eric Howerton of Wichita, Kansas and Alan Howerton and his wife Kam of Cassville, Missouri; one daughter, Karen Sue Pearce of Wichita, Kansas; six grandchildren, Chad, Britt, Holly, Robin, Cole and Megan and nine great-grandchildren.
Jim grew up and attended school in Butterfield, Missouri graduating from Butterfield High School. After graduation he moved to Wichita, Kansas and was employed by Boeing Aircraft Company for thirty-eight years from where he retired in 1991 as an aircraft salesman. After moving back to Butterfield, Jim and Ann owned and operated a grocery store for ten years and also farmed, raising cattle. He enjoyed the outdoors, going fishing on Table Rock Lake and bird hunting, but most of all he loved his grandchildren and instilling in them the same love of animals he had.
Private graveside services were held under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Pastor Karty Burbridge conducted the services.
