Joan Kathleen Reese, age 85, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri passed away Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Republic Nursing and Rehab in Republic, Missouri.
She was born February 20, 1936 in Wichita, Kansas the daughter of Lester Patrick and Pauline (Schmidt) Patterson. On May 23, 1956 in Cassville, Missouri she was united in marriage to Robert Reese, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her parents and seven siblings, Bill, Ruth, Lillian, Pat, Irene, Amy and Tom.
Surviving are one son, Brett Reese and his wife Karen of Warsaw, Missouri; two daughters, Julie Ruzicka and her husband Don of Mt. Vernon, Missouri and Sally Biggs and her husband Kevin of Boulder, Colorado; one brother, Robert Patterson and his wife Chris of Wichita, Kansas and five grandchildren, Kelsey Ruzicka, Garrett Biggs, Olivia Biggs, Corbin Reese and Chloe Reese.
Joan graduated from high school in Seligman, Missouri where she named the mascot. After graduation she met and married Robert. He was employed as a superintendent of schools so they moved to several different areas in Missouri. She was employed by the Bank of Urbana as a teller where she worked several years. Some of her favorite pastimes were taking care of her flowers and playing the piano. She loved family gatherings and spending time with family but most of all she loved the grandkids.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cassville.
