John “Jack” William Mustard

John “Jack” William Mustard, age 83, of Branson, Missouri.

John “Jack” William Mustard, age 83, of Branson, Missouri, departed this life on August 16, 2024. He was born in Pontiac, Michigan on November 9, 1940. Jack was raised by his parents in Lebanon, Missouri.

After graduating high school, Jack served his country for twenty years in the United States Navy, which included six tours of duty during the Vietnam Conflict, the Cuban Crisis, and the Bay of Pigs. He served on all continents except the Antarctic, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer.

Jack enjoyed riding his motorcycle and did so for fifty-seven years. He also taught motorcycle mechanics and motorcycle safety at the college. Jack owned several businesses with his wife including Windyville Store, Main Street America Antiques, Antique Appraisal, and Flea Market.

He had a contagious smile along with a love for telling jokes and stories, which brought him to his next phase of life where he was an Imagemaker Character at Silver Dollar City for sixteen years. The last nine years at Silver Dollar City, Jack became the Postmaster at the General Store, where his image was plastered on commodity labels, posters, postcards, adds, billboards, and TV commercials.

Jack had a real heart for entertainment. He performed in many live plays in Rockport, Texas and Branson, Missouri. Jack participated in music jams where he sang, played dobro, steel guitar, and mountain dulcimer.

He and his wife have been active members at Treasure Lake RV Resort for over ten years. He enjoyed the jam sessions, golf cart parades, volunteer service at the lodge weekend breakfasts as a singing server, role as a golf cart runner for any event that required transportation for guests, and opportunity to speak at the 2024 Memorial Day event. Jack was always willing to talk to TL members and help in any way he could. He was a board member for three sessions before retiring this year.

Jack was a business owner in Crane, Missouri. He served as President of the Chamber of Commerce and as City Councilman for three terms, which included Mayor Pro Tem.

Jack had a big heart for the Elevate Branson work program to help others be their best. He volunteered as a mentor.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents: John D. and Elsie (Myers) Mustard.

He is survived by his wife of forty years, Theresa (Stefka) Mustard; a blended family: Jeanie Rock, and husband Mike of Shawnee, Kansas, Debra Owens-Chapel, and husband Tom of Shawnee, Kansas, Gary Owens of Kansas City, Missouri, Alicia Barker, and partner Steve Appleberry of Lebanon, Missouri, John Mustard of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Barbara Goulden of Hot Springs, Arkansas, and Rebecca Whitehead, and husband Ronald of Littleton, North Carolina; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; siblings: Norman Mustard, Sam Mustard, and wife Cathy, Kathy Nelson, and husband Jerry, all of Lebanon, Missouri; previous wife of twenty years Melba Jean (Capps) Mustard of Hot Springs, Arkansas; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Cremations of the Ozarks, 115 Industrial Park Dr., Hollister, Missouri. A celebration of life will be held at 13:00 hours (1:00 p.m. civilian time) Saturday, August 24, 2024, at the Treasure Lake Lodge, 1 Treasure Lake Drive, Branson, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Elevate Branson (https://elevatebranson.org/donate/) to help others be their best.
