Johnnie Douglas Bolton passed away Saturday, March 22, 2025, at the age of 87, at his home.
He was born October 24, 1937 in Cassville, Missouri the son of Stephen Douglas Bolton and Myrtle Irene Richardson. On July 1, 1959 in Perry Hickman’s house in Washburn, Missouri he was united in marriage to Mary Lou Hargus, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Carolyn Noland and her husband Dennis of Cassville, Missouri and Theresa Huesties and her husband Jess of Rocky Comfort, Missouri; one son, Jeff Bolton and his wife of Michelle of Cassville, Missouri; 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Beulah Terry of Cassville, Missouri, Hazel Harvey and her husband Jerry of Rocky Comfort, Missouri and Mary Ann Horner and her husband Pat of Cassville, Missouri; one brother, Ted Bolton and his wife Fran of Cassville, Missouri and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one daughter, Connie Willis; twin sisters, Iona Faye and Lona Maye and two brothers, Steve Bolton and Larry Bolton.
Johnnie received his education at Oak Ridge Rural School, east of Cassville, Missouri. Johnnie was a very hard worker from the time he was a very small boy, he had just turned 8 years old when he lost his father in a house fire on December 20, 1945. He picked all kinds of berries, walnuts, poke, whatever they could to help make money to help his mom. This is how Johnnie was all his life, a very hard worker. Some of his jobs over the years were at McGruder Handle Factory in Wayne, Missouri, Bryant Well Drilling in Cassville, Missouri, Forest Products in Cassville, Missouri, Vollenweider Orchard in Exeter, Missouri, FASCO in Cassville, Missouri, Baker and Seely in Cassville, Missouri, at one point he lived and worked in Ulysses, Kansas, and worked as a janitor for Cassville Schools from where he retired.
Johnnie and Mary Lou would have celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary in July this year. Their love was a testament to their family and everyone that knew them. Every time you seen them together, they were always helping each other. If you knew Johnnie, you knew he loved God, his family, and was a friend to everyone he met. He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 27, 2025 at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Brother Billy Chesshir and Pastor Russell Bishop will conduct the services. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Cassville, Missouri.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 6:00 P.M. Wednesday at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
