Karen R. Darr

Karen R. Darr, 77 Branson, MO

Memorial service for Karen R. Darr, 77 Branson will be held Monday, Aug. 23 at 5 PM in the Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home and Crematory, Branson.  Karen peacefully entered into rest at her home Aug. 18, 2021.  Private burial will be held at a later date in the Ozarks Memorial Park Cemetery Branson.

Karen Rae Darr was born Feb. 9, 1944 in Waterloo, Iowa.  She was the daughter of Edwin and Mildred (Bradley) Youngberg.  Karen loved life, was a gifted people person and had a knack for creating beauty in the ordinary.  Karen maintained a deep respect for her strong Swedish heritage and celebrated it.  She was a vivid storyteller with a quick wit and had an incredible memory for faces, places and remembering details.  Karen was intelligent and pursued interests such as traveling, studying nursing and buying/selling children's clothing in her own shop.  In most recent years, she was a valuable asset to Bradford Inn where she became a consummate hostess.  Entertaining guests came naturally and her home was always warm, inviting and ready for visitors.   Karen maintained a special relationship with each of her three children, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.  She remained interested in what each one was doing and went out of her way to support them through thoughtful gifts, or phone calls or just showing up and being present.  She also prayed for and kept a favorite photograph of each one in her bedroom.   She was generous with her time and with what she had.  Many others, completely unrelated, called her "Grandma Karen" and it was not at all unusual for her to send beautifully wrapped coats or items to those she saw in need.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ron Darr, two brothers Lyle Youngberg and an adolescent brother Eugene Youngberg.

She is survived by her children Sonja Seidl (Robert) of Wichita, KS.; Sarah Brand of Red Vale, CO; John Porter (Rebecca) of Branson; three sisters Arlene(Mike) Fields of Billings, MO; Anita (Dave) Viles of Branson; Sandra (Larry) Wright of Stark City, MO; sister-in-law Charlotte Youngberg of Verona, MO;  seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends who loved her dearly.
