Ken Medlock, passed away Friday, May 24, 2024.
Cherished husband, father and grandfather, Ken Medlock, passed away Friday, May 24, 2024 at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield. Funeral services will be Friday, June 7, 2024 in Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home and Crematory, Branson. Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm with the funeral to follow at 1:00 pm. Burial will be in Shipman Cemetery, Sparta with full military honors.
Kenneth Lee Medlock was born May 27, 1952 in Clarksville, AR to Curtis & Betty (Howard) Medlock. Ken grew up in Kansas and served in the United States Army. His career involved a variety of pursuits including working for Gordon Labs, distributing pesticides, working at a slaughterhouse, and working in the Gulf on an oilrig. His most fulfilling jobs encompassed his giving and helpful spirit. He was employed both with Sunflower Diversified and The Developmental Center of the Ozarks at the Branson Recycling Center supervising male workers that had special needs. He transitioned into the classroom working with special needs students as a paraprofessional at Branson Intermediate, Junior High and High School. Being raised with a brother with special needs gave him a heart and ability to assist others with their challenges.
Ken will not only be remembered for his patient and guiding disposition but also for his extraordinary musical talent. He performed with one band or another for over 50 years, playing the bass guitar. He performed at different places in Branson and at The Frosty Mug in Forsyth.
Ken met his loving wife, Janis which working at The Recycling Center in Branson and the two were married on June 1, 2002 at the First Presbyterian Church in Branson.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David Medlock.
He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Janis Medlock of Branson; his son, Chris Medlock of San Antonio, TX; his daughter Stacy Medlock Walsh and husband Doug of San Antonio and grandson Joseph and his wife Savannah; and youngest son, Daniel Medlock and wife Stephanie of Kyle, TX. Ken is also survived by Janis’ children: son, James Dodds of Branson; daughter Elisabeth Ahl and granddaughters Evelynn and Adilynn Yi all of Pueblo West, CO.
