Mary Anne Kaske Butler, age 77, of Golden, Missouri

Mary Anne Kaske Butler, age 77, of Golden, Missouri, passed away after a long illness Monday January 2, 2023, at her home with family.

She was born in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of George and Fernanda Kaske. She is preceded in death by her parents and ex-husband John H. Arns Jr., who is the father of her children. Surviving are her daughter, Amy Schachle (husband Lawrence) of Wasilla, Alaska, and son, John Arns of Portland, Oregon. Amy is the mother of Mary Anne's two granddaughters: Lauren and Josephine. She is also survived by her sister, Joel Lachance (husband Jerry and daughter Julie) of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, and her current husband, Jerry L. Butler of the home.

Mary Anne graduated high school in 1962 from Ursuline Academy then attended St. John's Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. She later attended Webster University and graduated with a BS in Nursing.  She worked 41 years as a Registered Nurse (RN) and had many roles and titles including, staff nurse, labor and delivery, surgery, mental health, surgery admission unit, instructor at Park University nursing program, clinical nurse manager of obstetrics, triage, and others. She worked at many hospitals throughout her career in Maryland, Washington State, Washington DC, St. Louis, and the Kansas City area, although she spent most of her years at North Kansas City Hospital.

She has many hobbies including reading (was a member of two book clubs), knitting, quilting, gardening, and being a lover of music and flowers. She was a member of the Shell Knob Quilting Guild and she ushered at the Kansas City Repertory Theatre. She and her husband Jerry traveled throughout the United States, east to west, and Alaska. They also traveled to Europe many times.

She loved life, her husband, children, and grandchildren. She had a great sense of humor, sometimes a little "dark". She volunteered at hospice; was a member of E.R.C.A. at Eagle Rock, Missouri; a volunteer at Christmas dinners held in Shell Knob, Missouri; and a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. She was a very giving and caring woman you would have liked to know.

She and Jerry liked to sit on their deck overlooking the King's River/Table Rock Lake and watch the water, critters, sunsets, and the birds at the feeders. She also liked snow shoeing, and undisturbed snow. She loved slow boating, laughter, mountains, children, and hazelnut cream in her coffee.

A celebration of life is in the planning. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks. To leave an online condolence, please visit www.cremationsoftheozarks.com.
