Mary Katherine (Kathy) Swenty, 73 of Reeds Spring, Missouri.

Mary Katherine (Kathy) Swenty, 73 of Reeds Spring, Missouri joined her Heavenly Father on May 21, 2024, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She passed away at Cedarhurst Memory Care in Springfield, MO.

Kathy was born June 12, 1950 in Sheridan, Arkansas to Mary and George Lodge. She was raised in Louisiana, graduating from Springhill High School in 1968 and Northwest Louisiana State University in 1972.

In 1976, Kathy met Craig Swenty while they both were Marvel Cave Guides at Silver Dollar City. Kathy and Craig were married at the Wilderness Church at Silver Dollar City on July 15, 1977.

Kathy and Craig retired from public school teaching in Oklahoma and returned to Reeds Spring in 2018. Kathy loved to travel. She and Craig drove to 49 states and 8 Canadian Provinces before Alzheimer’s put an end to their traveling days.

Kathy is survived by her husband Craig, daughters Susan and Paige as well as three grandchildren.

Services will be on Tuesday, May 28 at Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home & Crematory in Branson with visitation at 1:00 pm and the funeral to begin at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow in Ozarks Memorial Park Cemetery, Branson.

Kathy kept a framed quote on the wall that truly summarizes how she lived her life: “Always pray to have eyes that see the best in people, a heart that forgives the worst, a mind that forgets the bad, and a soul that never loses faith in God.”
