Paul Stephans, age 68, of Branson, Missouri, passed away at home surrounded by his family August 25, 2021. He was born Paul Stephan Crnkovich on September 20, 1952, in Hibbing, Minnesota, the son of Anthony and Rose (Borovac) Crnkovich. His parents have preceded him in death.
Paul was born with a natural musical talent. In 1969, he left home at the age of sixteen to pursue his true calling in life, becoming a musician. Paul found his way to Nashville in 1971, where he began a lifelong career playing country music alongside some of the best in the business. Paul was a bassist for George Jones, Eddie Rabbitt, Christy Lane, Kitty Wells, Jack Greene and Ray Price. He has appeared on the Grand Ole Opry, Hee Haw and Pop! Goes the Country. Paul moved to Branson in 1989 and started a family in 1992. Throughout his career, he entertained millions and built friendships that would last even to his last days. Most of all, he will be remembered for the legacy he created in music and his beautiful family.
Paul is survived by a daughter, Roxanne Wenger and husband Austin of Forsyth, Missouri; a son, Tyler Stephans and wife Samantha of Branson, Missouri; two beautiful grandchildren; Ryder Paul Stephans and Avery Rose Wenger; a brother, Greg Crnkovich and wife Laurie of Bernallio, New Mexico; a sister, Bunnie Moscatelli and husband Jim of Stockton, California; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his best friend and “brother”, Jimmy Hyde of Hollister, Missouri.
