Rebecca Louise "Becky" Zilm, aged 73.
Rebecca Louise "Becky" Zilm, aged 73, left this world to be at peace on September 21, 2024. She was born on October 9, 1950, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to Harry and Marjorie (Bolten) Haslag. She attended different public and parochial schools and later studied for a year at Southwest Missouri State, now MSU, in Springfield.
Becky led a life marked by enjoyment, awe, kindness and service. As a teenager, she volunteered as a candy striper at St. John's Hospital in Springfield. She gave the same love and attention to her family over the years as a mother, wife and caring for her aging parents in their golden years. She enjoyed moments by the lake, taking in the beauty as she looked across or enjoying a picnic with her husband lakeside. Outside, she loved watching wildlife, or inside catching up on a television show. She had also spent many years enjoying working in food service at Silver Dollar City.
Becky is survived by her beloved husband, John "Jeffrey" Zilm, whom she married in May 15, 2004. Together they shared a love that was evident to all who knew them. She was a devoted mother to her son Randall Hawkins of Belleville, IL, a caring sister to Robert Haslag and his wife Stephanie of Nixa, MO and Joseph Haslag and his wife Sara of Columbia, MO, and a loving aunt to her many nieces and nephews who remember her fondly for the cherished tradition of receiving birthday cards from her with loving notes.
She was preceded in death by her deeply loved parents, Harry and Marge Haslag and an infant brother.
Becky will forever be remembered as someone who cherished her family and friends, and found joy in the simplest pleasures of life.
Graveside services will be Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in Resurrection Cemetery, 4531 W. Division St., Springfield, MO 65802. Cremation was in the care of Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home & Crematory, Branson.
