Synda Sue Durham, age 69, of Branson, Missouri

Synda Sue Durham, age 69, of Branson, Missouri, passed away October 20, 2023, with family by her side. She entered this life on January 21, 1954, the daughter of Richard and Harriet (Rehmer) Scott in Iola, Kansas. Synda was joined in marriage to Tom Lynn Durham on July 3, 1976.

Being a loving, caring woman, Synda dedicated her life to children, at home and through her time as a preschool director and teacher. She earned her Bachelor of Science from Emporia State University. Synda’s life revolved around her family with her grandchildren holding. Synda’s grandchildren lovingly called her “Nene.” She sang to them at bedtime every night that they were visiting. Their favorite was her version of “In the Garden.” Synda watched their sports games and hosted tea parties for her grandchildren. The memories and moments created throughout Synda’s lifetime will be cherished by all who knew her.

Synda is survived by her husband of forty-seven years, Tom Durham of Branson, Missouri; son, Scott Durham and wife, Anne of Kansas City, Missouri; daughters: Tara Strahm and husband, Loren of Glen Carbon, Illinois, and Cami Nelson and husband, Kory of Nixa, Missouri; ten grandchildren: Kenan, Elizabeth, Bently, Rachel, Calvin, Karmindy, Charlie, Aria, Max, and Kate; and brother, Kent Scott and wife, Dana Scott-Gowen of Madison, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Gary Scott.

There will be a celebration of Synda’s life service held 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 27, 2023, at First Baptist Church, 400 South Sunshine, Branson, Missouri, with Pastor Jeff Wilcox officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to The Free Clinic of the Ozarks, 590 Birch Rd, Ste 1A, Hollister, Missouri. Services and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.
