Veeda Zan Smith was born on June 16, 1947 in Nocona, Texas.
Veeda Zan Smith was born on June 16, 1947 in Nocona, Texas to Gordon Cooper and Venus (Beams) Cooper. She grew up in Fort Worth, Texas and graduated high school from Polytechnic High School in 1965. Between her junior and senior year of high school on July 17, 1964, Veeda married Charles Smith in Fort Worth.
Veeda spent the early years of marriage and motherhood at home raising her girls. As her family grew up, Veeda answered another calling on her life to help those who had less of an advantage or those less fortunate. She served as an event planner as well as a fundraising and marketing specialist for non-profit organizations including the March of Dimes, Stars for Children which helped abused children, and various benefit events for children suffering from Spina Bifida.
In 1985, Veeda and much of her family moved to Branson from Fort Worth. She continued working in marketing in the Branson tourism and entertainment industry. Eighteen years ago, she combined her gifts and service on the Jim Bakker Show and at Morningside Church as their Production Manager.
Veeda passed away Thursday, October 14, 2021 at the age of 74 at her home in Branson with her family by her side after a courageous battle with liver cancer. She will be remembered as a Child of the King, precious wife, mother, Nena and friend.
Veeda was preceded in death by her parents; two infant daughters and one daughter Rockelle Denise Smith; her brother Gary Cooper and sister Latrelle Welborn Tatum.
She is survived by her loving husband, Charles Smith of Branson; three daughters, Shelly Vorhaben (Jason) of Branson, Shauna Hord (Brian) of Richardson, TX, and Marcey Simzek (Nathan) of Springfield; ten grandchildren, Jonathan Vorhaben (Franki), Bethany Vorhaben, Ryman Hord (Karen), Brenae Hord Willis (Caleb), Breshae Hord, Ananda Wall, Delainey Wall, Madelynn Wall, Keira Simzek, and Gabriella Simzek along with three great-grandchildren Caleb Vorhaben, Lyla Vorhaben and Emberlyn Hord as well as extended family and friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday evening, October 20, 2021 from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. in Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home and Crematory, Branson. Funeral services will be Thursday, October 21, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Morningside Church, 180 Grace Chapel Rd, Blue Eye with burial to follow in Blue Eye Cemetery.
