Wendell Wayne Phillips, age 89.

Wendell Wayne Phillips, age 89, passed away October 31, 2024. He entered this life on April 27, 1935, the son of Jacob “Keith” and Mildren (Horstman) Phillips in Centerville, Iowa. He was joined in marriage on April 14, 1958, to Dixie Diane Wakefield.

Wendell proudly served our country in the United States Army. With a gregarious soul, Wendell loved to talk and loved visiting with anyone and everyone. He was talented at growing flowers and had worked on a farm with his wife, Dixie, in Iowa, where they lived most of their life. Wendell and Dixie moved to Castlewood Senior Center in Nixa, Missouri, in 2021. Wendell enjoyed working at Stone Hill Winery for many years. He loved his family and his friends. Most of all, he loved his savior. He would help others as often as possible and served at Branson United Methodist Church in Branson. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him.

Wendell is survived by his three children: Randy Phillips and wife, Rhonda of Chanute, Kansas, Todd Phillips and wife, Karen of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, and Mirinda Frealy and husband, Arthur of Nixa, Missouri; brother, Howard Phillips of Mystic, Iowa; grandchildren: Darren, Samantha, Hannah, Cody, Ely, Autumn, and Every; and eight great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife of sixty-four years, Dixie Phillips; parents: Keith and Mildren Phillips; sister, Olive Jean Tarvell; and sister-in-law, Joyce Phillips.

There will be a memorial service held a later time. Inurnment of Wendell and Dixie will be July 12, 2025, in Hanes Cemetery, Centerville, Iowa.
